What Families are Saying...

The Brazilian Amazon Adventure was one of the best and most authentic trips of my life. So many highlights... being with family and a great crew so far away, no internet distractions, beautiful scenery, waterfall swim, piranha fishing, jungle walk, etc. Gotta do it to understand!”

Roberta and family, boy age 9

“I’ve taken my kids to 59 countries. Our journey with Our Whole Village through Brazil’s Amazon rainforest remains my favorite trip. It was perfectly organized and absolutely magical. The reflections of the Rio Negro tributary (going to the rapids), swimming, fishing for piranhas, and the Mirante do Gavião lodge were a few of our highlights. I loved everything. My 8-year-old daughter loved everything. I’d return in a heartbeat and do the same trip again, and travel anywhere else with Our Whole Village as well.”

Good To Know...

- The Rio Negro is known for its dark waters. The dark color comes from humic acid due to an incomplete breakdown of the vegetation. The good news? This means less mosquitoes and plenty of safe areas to swim in and cool off, making it ideal for a safe and enjoyable family vacation.

- The weather is hot and humid in the Amazon rain forest. Be sure to pack lightweight cotton clothes and drink plenty of water.

- The weather cools off at night. Bring a light jacket.

- Yellow fever shot is not mandatory and not prevalent in the areas we visit, but HIGHLY recommended.

- Malaria is endemic to the region, but not prevalent in the areas we visit. However, we recommend checking with your doctor and use of long sleeve shirts, long pants and tropical-grade insect repellent during hikes and community visits.

- A pre-arranged visa is no longer required for holders of US, Canadian and Australian passports to enter Brazil.
