Learn more about local culture during a visit with the artisans of El Roble. This includes a school visit and cooking class with the locals. In Sarapiqui, ramp up the family adventure with a whitewater rafting expedition. The action continues with ziplining in Arenal. Then, it’s off to Manuel Antonio National Park to hike its picturesque landscapes. This Costa Rica vacation with family is perfect for those who enjoy nature, adventure, and culturally enriching experiences.

Costa Ricans are passionate about protecting their wildlife refuges, national parks, and nature reserves. This dedication to the environment shows in the nation’s pristine wilderness settings, from jungle-shrouded volcanoes to emerald-hued rainforest canopies. As a result, your kids will also learn crucial lessons about ecology and conservation on this family vacation to Costa Rica.

Few destinations outperform Costa Rica when it comes to family travel. A land of abundant biodiversity and plenty of adventure, its rich culture revolves around the laid-back “pura vida” lifestyle. “Pura vida” refers to the “pure or simple life.” And you’ll have the chance to enjoy its multi-faceted influences on Costa Rica’s culture — from delectable cuisine to the sunny optimism of locals.

Good To Know...

- The Sarapiquí region is the fastest growing ecotourism destination in Costa Rica. Many community members recognize the need to learn English in order to take advantage of this opportunity. Community members see learning English as a means to improve job advancement opportunities, develop a small business, or facilitate international partnerships.

- Children need to be 120cm or over in order to participate in the Sky Trek Zipline Canopy Tour.

- You’ll be walking around towns, and through forests and jungle on this trip.
Make sure you pack some sturdy and comfortable shoes.

- There are a couple of longer travel days on this trip as we’ll be covering a lot of Costa Rican ground. These 4h drives are along smooth roads in safe and comfortable vehicles, and are great for games, chats and scenery spotting. We’ll also make interesting stops along the way to break up those longer drives.

- It can get really hot and humid. Hydration is key. Carry plenty of water. There'll also be plenty of chances to swim and cool off.

- It’s a good idea to try and brush up on your Spanish. While locals are really friendly, they’re also shy, so knowing a few key words is a great way to break the ice and show you care about them and their culture.
