At Our Whole Village and Together we Cook we believe in the power of exploration and connection, whether at home or abroad.
Now that the school year is behind us and our travel plans and summer camps have been cancelled or disrupted, we wanted to team up and provide families with a fun and engaging option to get our kids traveling from home, learning new skills and making new connections.
Founder of Together We Cook
I am a mother, former lawyer, food lover and author of the food blog Hearts of Palm, where I share recipes, tips for cooking with children and my family’s culinary adventures.
My fondest childhood memories are from times spent in the kitchen with my grandmothers - and most recently with one of my aunts - while they spent countless hours immersed in the joy of preparing delicious meals for our families.
At Together We Cook, my goal is to empower children to be confident in the kitchen, to inspire them to explore new flavors and make healthy choices and to encourage families to cook and eat together - all valuable life skills children will carry into their adult lives.

"We loved Ms. Mari’s class. Our kids attended both in person and online (she manages the online format very well) she’s great with the kids, keeps everyone focused, on task and incorporates science and very practical skills into each session. Our entire family really enjoyed the delicious croque madames along with the yummy salad. A simple, but impressive meal."

"Fabulous cooking classes that have inspired my 3 elementary age children. They can’t wait to take more classes soon. Mari is excellent. She’s patient but also a wonderful teacher. The food is delicious, too!"
- Erin Cleary
"My kids have always loved attending Mari's classes and yesterday we had the first "virtual" class via zoom! It was a lot of fun! We loved how we received all the ingredients/supplies list in advance so we could be prepared. A delicious and easy menu to prepare for brunch. Thank you!"
- Liza Karina Agudelo
"We have been able to take classes virtually during the pandemic and it has been a very special experience in an otherwise crazy time. Thanks Mari for making cooking classes for kids doable and affordable!"
